With so much to offer this seventh year of Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, the celebration of music, food, art and everything in between was at an all-time high! Boasting a packed lineup of diverse performers, culinary innovators and artists, Golden Gate Park hosted a wonderland of possibilities. Here are our favorite features from this year’s extravaganza.

With a lineup of more than 70 diverse performers, naming the best shows of the weekend is at best an exercise in personal point of view. With opinions running rampant on headliners, under cards and buzz-worthy acts, we instead choose to focus on what caught our attention as some of the most memorable performances of the weekend for better or worse.

Cinco De Mayo Drinks

The time has come for another drinking holiday. What better holiday to try new drinks than Cinco De Mayo. Here are some ideas to get you started.

1. Michelada

2 oz. Tomato Juice or Bloody Mary Mix
1/2 oz. Lime Juice
3 Drops of Tabasco Sauce
12 oz. Beer

Pour tomato juice, bloody mary mix, lime juice and drops of tabasco sauce. Pour your favorite Mexican beer.


2.  Mexican Sea  Breeze 

2 oz. Tequila
Grapefruit Juice
Cranberry Juice

Pour tequila with ice and add equal amounts of grapefruit and cranberry juice.


3. Green Iguana Drink

1 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Melon Liqueur
1 oz. Sweet & Sour Mix

Pour all ingredients in shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into glass.


4.  Cucaracha

2 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Coffee Liqueur

Pour tequila and coffee liqueur into glass.


5. Blue Agave

1 1/2 oz. Tequila
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
1/2 oz. Lime Juice

Pour all ingredients into glass with ice.




Oldest Pubs in Ireland

The Irish are known for having the oldest pubs in the world. One of the pubs can be traced back to 900 AD.  To give you an idea of just how old some of the pubs are. Here is a list.

1. Brazen Head, Dublin

Brazen Head pub can be traced back to 1178 AD.


2. Sean’s Bar, Athlone, Co. Westmeath

The oldest bar on the list can be traced back to 900 AD.


3. The Cock, Gormanstown, Co. Meath

The Cock pub has been traded without interuptions by the McCabe family since the 1390s.


4. T&H Doolans, Co. Waterford

T&H Doolans pub can be traced back to 1400 AD.


5. Morahans, Ballinagare, Co. Roscommon

Morahans pub has been run by the same family since 1641.

Another great drinking holiday is upon us. St. Patrick’s day is almost here, and it gives a great excuse for trying new beer. When we think of Irish beer, we think of Guinness. But for those of us who want to try something else here are a few options.
